What's it all about?

We’re looking for a solid B2B content writer with the brains for some exciting content strategy. Someone who wants to not only create great content but to also think about the motives behind it and the best approaches to make it truly shine and be shared. It’s an opportunity to create suites of content that gets you as excited about it as our clients and their customers.

This role is for someone who has the portfolio of B2B work with big brands, as well as the ability to demonstrate you know how to get the best out of awareness content, make paid social go further and can bring imaginative storytelling to new business pitches.

We’re really flexible when it comes to office-based or remote working (and not just since Covid) so it’s all up for discussion.

We’re not ones to beat about the bush either. The salary band for this role is £45k-55k.


What you'll be doing

  • Creating solid content plans for a variety of assets, from podcast scripts and how-to guides to landing pages and infographics
  • Writing impactful copy with a compelling tone of voice, and excellent spelling and grammar 
  • Producing web copy with an eye on SEO without losing sight of keeping things sounding human 
  • Editing and proofing copy with an eye for detail
  • Exploring sales enablement formats and the best ways to create a buzz amongst our client’s internal teams
  • Dissecting briefs, challenging them when appropriate and making sure you have everything you need to get started 
  • Creating pitch decks for clients and new business, and presenting them with confidence, ease and a bit of flourish 
  • Coming up with creative content formats and distribution channels that push the parameters of B2B content
  • Collaborating with the Strategy team on messaging, proposition and sales funnel activations 
  • Collaborating with the Creative team on campaign creative routes and wrappers
  • Collaborating with the Client Services team to devise effective and efficient timelines and relationship-building strategies for clients 

And to avoid any confusion, what you won’t be doing: 

  • Writing advertisements

About you

  • At least 8-10 years’ content marketing experience in-house or agency
  • A love for writing, a stickler for spelling and grammar, and a mass murderer when it comes to killing your babies to create the best client work 
  • A strategic mindset with creative thinking when it comes to content formats , approaching the sales funnel and potential avenues for reaching the audience 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to stay calm, multitask and keep up in a very fast paced environment
  • A sense of humour and gung ho attitude 
  • An enthusiasm for B2B, enjoying the challenge of taking a complex brief and turning it into something fun, innovative and unexpected 
  • A knowledge of content marketing best practices and what is happening in the industry, with an understanding of the full ‘marketing mix’ – eg. digital, social, inbound, nurture principles

We're looking for someone who has...

B2B experience
B2B experience is a must – particularly in the technology and telecommunications sectors. Ideally, you’ll have 3-4 years+ experience under your belt in strategy roles, whether agency or client-side, with some great B2B case studies to share.

Leadership skills
You’ll be leading projects for a big, established account in the agency. Your time will mostly be focused on value proposition development and campaign / content planning - but you’ll also be required to input on resources and timelines for new projects, provide oversight of any freelancers, and display leadership in your strategy role that gives senior clients confidence in our process and outputs.

Curiosity
You’ll be as curious as we are about everything, with a good head for business and a great feel for what makes people tick. We want someone who can ask all the right questions and get to the heart of the matter – building clear and compelling propositions, turning the intangible into something altogether more meaningful.

Enthusiasm and drive
Most of all, we want someone with an athletic mind that can help Earnest continue to set the pace and wow our clients. We need someone who is happy to take briefs and run with them, able to create great strategy work that underpins the outputs of our creative team - and identify new potential opportunities on the way.

Lastly, ideally you’ll be well versed in planning digital-first campaigns, carefully selecting the right channels to reach and engage audiences – and ensuring they deliver the goods commercially for our clients. We have an in-house digital team who aid in this process, but demonstrable experience of digital campaign planning is desirable.


You’ll spend most of your time working on:

  • Insight gathering, working with our dedicated insight team Earnest IQ
  • Developing compelling value propositions, messaging and stories that position a client’s offering in distinctive and compelling ways
  • Formulating high-performing campaigns and go-to-market strategies
  • Working closely with our creative and content teams to bring to life those strategies in great concepts and campaign assets
  • Measuring, optimising and reporting on campaign effectiveness
  • Collaborating with our Labs team to bring new ideas and opportunities to the table

About you

  • Ideally you have at least 4 years experience in an agency environment. You’ll have strong PHP skills, know how to handle WordPress theme development and be at home development with HTML(5), CSS(3) and Javascript/jQuery.
  • You’ll have a strong understanding of the tools that make WordPress superpowered – From ACF to WPML, and from Autoptimise to WPEngine.
  • You’ll have experience working in corporate websites for large corporate organsiations.

At any one time you’ll be supporting the team in meeting (and exceeding), the expectations of at least one of our largest clients, as well as working on one or two smaller projects.

What you'll be doing

  • Simultaneously managing multiple projects.
  • Taking briefs, briefing creative and planning teams
