Startup Generator
You know that feeling you get when you really want to launch a startup, but you don’t have any ideas for actually launching a startup?
That was the inspiration behind the latest Earnest Labs project. Armed with nothing more than a free-ish Friday morning, a long list of words, someone (hi Jack!) who knows their HTML from their python and an irrepressible desire to get rich quick, we set about nudging a million entrepreneurial dreams into motion.
I asked Jack, the developer, to explain how he approached this. He sent me this:

Helpful. Ten minutes later, he sent me this link. This feels like the most sensible answer we’re going to get out of him, so I’m not going to press it.
The project is pretty self explanatory anyway. The generator randomly matches names, logos, startup types and categories. We’ll keep adding more to it over time, largely to entertain ourselves.
Some of the ideas it spits out are awful. Some are absurd. Every now and again one makes more sense than we would like.
